The 4c's
Colour
The colour of diamonds can vary from totally colourless through to yellow.
Rare fancy coloured diamonds are also found and include blues, pinks, oranges, yellows & browns.
Clarity
Almost all diamonds contain extremely small inclusions , most are not detectable with the naked eye and at the very least would need magnification for the inclusion to become apparent. The fewer & fainter the inclusions are rarer & more valuable the diamond.
Carat Weight
All precious stones weights are described in Carats.
The word Carat originated from a naturally occurring unit of weight , the seed of the carob tree.
Diamonds were traditionally weighed against these seeds until the system was standardised, and one carat was fixed at 0.2grams.
Cut
For us clarity is the most important factor in a diamonds identity.
The precision & delicacy with which the diamond is cut will determine its brilliance, its fire & ultimate beauty.
